KyoSaya is the name used to refer to the pairing between Kyoko Sakura and Sayaka Miki from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. They can be described in many tropes, such as enemies/rivals to lovers, hair contrast duo, et cetera. While I don't usually care much for tropes, KyoSaya introduced me to a lot of things in media I didn't know I enjoyed.

But enough about what other stuff I like because of them. What's their significance to me as a person?

Being a fictive of Kyoko sort of guaranteed that I'd grow to become attached to the pairing. Though I can mostly separate myself from my source now, I still feel a deep connection to it and believe that because of my circumstance, no one can understand their dynamic like I do.

I view them wholly as me and my girlfriend (hi ani) and we've bonded over we have in common with the characters for a very long time. They've always been kind of the patron "us ship," if you wanna call it that.

No matter what I fixate on, how long I fixate on it, KyoSaya doesn't ever leave my mind. It's probably my favorite thing to come out of media, that and Pokemon. I rewatch Madoka Magica at least once a year and every time I watch the 9th episode I bawl my eyes out LMAO

With me having loved the pairing for such a long time, it gave me a lot of time to study the dynamics between the two characters and apply them to my own life. As weird as it sounds, KyoSaya helped me discover myself and helped me form bonds, parts of my identity, develop new interests I'd never considered before, and so on.

In short, I owe KyoSaya many thanks for how it's influenced my life and my identity.
