Welcome to my Post Board! This is just a place for me to organize all my thoughts relating to Kyosaya, and hopefully gather some others' interests in them too! From things like analyses, news, general updates, or even discussion of upcoming content...? 👀
Please enjoy your stay on this page! I hope you enjoy reading my nonsensical ramblings!!
5/16/2025 - Official Art That Actually Isn't (First post!)
Welcome to the first post on the Kyosaya website! I've been wanting to set up a place like this for a while. Since you likely already read the introduction, and this is (so far) the only post on here, I'll just get to the point!
My website doesn't really look like much at first, but it is apparently a large center for Kyosaya fans. (According to my girlfriend, it's the second thing that comes up if you search up the name, though that might vary by place.) Since so many fans are aware of my site, I think it's a good place to talk about an issue the fanbase has had for years.
A lot of official art I see circling around is actually not official at all! I don't think this is a Kyosaya-exclusive problem. Lots of PMMM content in general is hard to verify as official or not. But since I am most active in spaces revolving around the pairing, I have seen it the most, and been able to find the actual sources of some commonly misinterpreted artists. No matter what, I am always VERY against reposting artists' hard work without credit. So please! To anyone reading this, if you happen upon any posts labeling these as official, please kindly correct them (but don't be rude about it either)!!!
The first one I see spread around a lot is the work of Getchu, who can be found on Twitter and Pixiv. Do any of these look familiar?
Personally I don't really see what makes it look so official that it's confused as often as it is, but that's not to say anyone is ignorant for thinking so! I will point out some differences between the artwork and the official stuff, so fans will be able to better spot Getchu's work in the future!
For one, the art has a very overt doujin feel to it if you know what I mean. The composition is lively and busy, and there are often lots of text logos or graphics around the page. In official art (like the ones pictured below) the compositions put a lot more focus on the characters rather than the entire page. Also, Getchu works with thick, clean lineart, as opposed to the official art's usual thin and rough edge.
Another artist I've seen misconcepted as an official artist a lot is Fumiko (AKA Mesushi or Mesushirindaa, who may go by other names as well). It's unfortunate because she has expicitly asked not to repost her works in her Pixiv bio! I've seen the pieces below most often stated as official when it isn't.
Fumiko's work is different from the official art too! She tends to use harsher colors for the shadows, as well as more pronunciation on the eyes and eyelids. She also has a more sketchy line style, with more lines overlapping each other. There's also more detail in the clothing, especially stuff like wrinkles.
Now, the official art is all mostly done by different artists from what I can tell. There are small minute differences but for the most part most of them remain consistent in their style. If you're not sure if something you see is official, you can always reverse image search! But please guys!! Make sure to credit fanartists! They deserve it!
Very soon I'll be refurbishing the Gallery page of this website, so there can hopefully be a one-stop source for as much Kyosaya official art as possible!! Maybe I'll open a form too for people who want to contribute their findings... anyway, having said that all, I think I can wrap up this post! Good night and happy shipping!
5/17/2025 - Looking For This Fanartist + Site E-mail!
Hey!! I'm back already with another post. This time I'm looking for the artist of a Sayaka fanart I really like! Normally I probably wouldn't post something like this, but I think it's a good way to introduce my website e-mail. Besides, what better way to find the artist of a Sayaka piece than posting it to my Kyosaya website? Don't expect several posts of this variety though!!
I can only find the artist's NND page, which is seemingly taken down now. On Danbooru, Safebooru, and just about every other place I've checked, they're uncredited, with the only source link being their NND page. Even Zerochan only had their tag as their Seiga ID, and it only had this piece listed even though I'm sure I've seen other works from the same artist. Who knows, maybe they do have as little of an online presence as just that, but it'd be really disappointing if that were the case...!
So anyway, here's the aforementioned art piece. Like I said, I can only find this piece uncredited on Booru-type websites. If you have any clue who it might be, feel free to e-mail me at kyosayadotorg@gmail.com!!!
5/21/2025 - Analysis 1: Kyoko Sakura and Kyosuke Kamijo
Something I've always found interesting was how simultaneously different and similar Sayaka's subtextual love interest and her canon one are. So for my first analysis post, I've decided I'll write about them! Please excuse any messy rambling, I'm not very good at organizing my thoughts in a more organized manner. Hopefully you'll still get it!
There's the obvious similarity in their names. The kanji is different but the pronunciation of "kyo" is the same. "-Ko" and "-suke" are very common suffixes in feminine and masculine names respectively. In fact, their names are practically genderbent versions of each other, and given Madoka Magica's way of symbolism, I don't think it's a coincidence. But just as their names are similar, their characters are complete opposites in the narrative.
Kyoko has what is pretty much the opposite personality and background of Kyosuke. Kyosuke is rich, but must rely on others due to his disabling condition post-accident. Even though he can have strong emotions (rightfully so, given his situation) he tends to be polite but rather socially unaware, causing his relationships to suffer and him to appear emotionally distant. Both Sayaka's VA and the writer have stated that even if he and Sayaka were to start dating, it wouldn't necessarily be true happiness for Sayaka, as he would likely stand her up to practice his violin. He is passionate about his music and has artist's tunnel-vision. In contrast to the rich and reserved yet dense Kyosuke, Kyoko grew up in a life of poverty after her father's excommunication from the church. Though she relied on her wish to get out of her situation, she became self-reliant following the death of her family and initially didn't desire nor necessarily need to rely on anyone else but herself. She is arrogant, yet honest and very perceptive. She becomes focused on Sayaka's survival and wellbeing following their discovery about Soul Gems.
Additionally, Sayaka is in love with Kyosuke, and they have been friends since childhood. Sayaka does a lot to support him while he's recovering in the hospital, from giving him gifts and soon making a contract with Kyubey to heal Kyosuke's arm. Sayaka's love language is acts of service, as shown by her making the contract and fighting for the sake of that wish. Even when she remarks that Madoka should give up her humanity out of pity for her, this is evident. She wishes for someone— specifically Kyosuke, to show her that type of affection in return. Kyosuke is grateful for Sayaka's company and considers her a good friend, but he's oblivious to what she truly wants from him, creating a lingering feeling of rejection even before he reciprocates Hitomi's feelings.
Some time after making her contract, Sayaka is challenged by Kyoko and they attempt a battle to the death. Sayaka is resentful of Kyoko at first, as they have completely clashing ideals that challenges Sayaka's outlook on being a Magical Girl, an ally of justice that protects people no matter what. At first, Kyoko is incompatible with Sayaka's way of showing a bond. Kyoko doesn't start out as the type of person who would show any service to anyone, only fighting for herself and her own gain. This creates a stark contrast between Sayaka's affectionate relationship with Kyosuke, and her animosity towards Kyoko.
After Kyosuke is discharged from the hospital and returns to school, he and Sayaka grow distant from each other. This is only furthered when Hitomi reveals her feelings towards Kyosuke to Sayaka. Over this growing distance, a bridge begins to form between the distance of Sayaka and Kyoko's relationship. Despite never becoming friends, Kyoko begins to attempt to reach out to Sayaka, offering her a gift, which she rejects; a symbol of their one-sided closeness as a whole, and a mirror of what Sayaka feels for Kyosuke. As Sayaka further deteriorates, she takes on the witch Elsa-Maria, which Kyoko has spared for her. After her reckless fighting, Kyoko jumps in to save Sayaka, offering to take on the witch herself before her help again being rejected by Sayaka. Kyoko giving up her "prey" and subsequently saving Sayaka from serious injury or death is an act of service in itself, something Sayaka has longed for. Kyoko exhibits this act of service again when she saves Sayaka from Homura and urges her to get away.
Eventually, Sayaka's despair reaches a breaking point and she becomes a witch. Kyoko, despite the rejection faced by Sayaka, refuses to leave her body behind and even uses her own magic to keep it fresh while she figures out how to save Sayaka. Despite the one-sidedness of their bond, Kyoko refuses to let a distance grow between them, even after Sayaka is already dead; this contrasts the distance between Kyosuke and Sayaka after he fully recovers. The attempt to save Sayaka becomes the sacrifice of Kyoko's life, so Sayaka won't be alone in death. So she won't need to suffer alone, drowning in bitterness and rejection; an act Kyoko herself describes as protecting what means the most to her until the very end. As suggested by the end artwork of episode 9 and the manga equivalent, Kyoko's attempt to reach out is finally reciprocated by Sayaka. All she wanted was for Kyosuke reciprocate her affection through action, and she got it from Kyoko instead.
In short, the "Kyo's" as I'll call them, have opposite relationships with Sayaka. Kyoko one-sidedly reaches out to Sayaka, who one-sidedly reaches out to Kyosuke. With genderbent version of each others' names, opposite relationships, contrasting development of those relationships, and personalities, Kyoko and Kyosuke are evidently meant to be contrasts of each other. While the boy Sayaka longs for affection from grows distant from her due to developing artistic tunnel-vision, Kyoko saves her from loneliness, and the two form a bond just as special as the one Sayaka and Kyosuke used to have; and until the universe is rewritten, they are together even in death.
Extra notes I forgot to include: Sayaka laments to Madoka about how she can't ask Kyosuke to hold her with a body like hers. This sparks interest in the fact that Kyoko is the same as Sayaka, a Magical Girl, with a Soul Gem separated from her body. Additionally, in Rebellion, Kyoko states that Sayaka has done some "moving on," when in the same movie, Sayaka more explicitly reciprocates all that she knows Kyoko has done for her and felt towards her.
